The formation of the architectural composition was preceded by the research of typical architectural forms that make up recognizable archetypes in the settlement of “Drač” and “Stara Varoš” as the oldest urban agglomerations of Podgorica. The primary goal is that the newly designed mosque belongs to the spirit of the place.
That is why, in the arrangement of the volume, special attention was paid to the scale of the object in relation to the existing architectural-urban matrix, all with the desire to achieve a balance with the existing physical structures in the immediate and further surroundings.
The single-pitched sloping roof that directs water towards the interior of the courtyard, present as an important element of architecture in “Drač”, represents the initial motif of the architectural composition. Volats (vaults, arches, arcades) are an indispensable element in the vocabulary of architectural heritage. The clock tower cube is imposed as an indispensable element in the process of transposition. It was assigned the role of a minaret, which consists of a cubic form finished with a recognizable element of the minaret, which is a combination of a roller and a cup.
Special attention was paid to the introduction of light into the prayer space, so the element of the sloping roof, oriented towards Mecca, was articulated for this purpose, which largely determines the architectural concept of the building.
An integral element of traditional architecture is the courtyard and fence of each building with its intimate space, so this moment was used as an important element of the overall architectural composition.
