By analyzing the influential factors—primarily the terrain configuration and traditional Paštrovići houses, as well as the contemporary needs of the users—an architectural solution was proposed for a residential building with a layout of S+P+1 (basement + ground floor + first floor). The building is positioned within the boundaries of the building lines, and given the limited dimensions set by these lines, the volumetric interplay of the two houses aims to reflect the architecture of traditional Paštrovići settlements. The terrain configuration, protective zone, and positions of the building lines determined the placement of the building on the plot. On the northern side, three parking spaces were provided, and the pedestrian access for users is arranged through a series of switchbacks and planters, overcoming a height difference of approximately 11 meters. To create a building with representative architecture in the upper floors and roof planes, the building is divided into two parts, allowing it to be “read” as two structures with single-pitched roofs. Maximum views toward the sea are ensured, while maintaining the individual privacy of each user. The architecture is defined by a clear cubic form, “split” into two single-pitched roof structures. Through the use of glass surfaces and contemporary materials, the building is translated into a modern form. Integral elements of the architectural vocabulary include pergolas at the entrances, pižuni (traditional decorative elements), and retaining walls treated with stonework, among other details.
