The urban structure of Pljevlja is based on a matrix of smaller square-plan volumes, which in spatial perception appear as scattered modules across the urban ground. These square units, whose archetypal geometry reflects the fundamental principle of spatial organization, form a recognizable pattern of the city, making its identity and matrix visually and spatially clearly legible. This fragmentation in space creates rhythm and dynamism within the urban fabric, where each volume functions independently while simultaneously acting as an integral part of the broader urban context. The design inspiration for the pool building emerged precisely from this urban code. The pool was conceived as a compact cuboid, which was then decomposed into a series of smaller cubic volumes, creating an architectural structure that directly reflects the city’s matrix. Such fragmentation allows the building to blend naturally into the urban pattern—an echo of the existing city context—while at the same time introducing a new dimension of spatial legibility and visual identity.
